Quincy, M.E.

Quincy M.E.

Quincy M.E. is an American television series from Oct.3,1976 to Sep.5,1983 on NBC.
It stars Jack Klugman in the title role, a Los Angeles county medical examiner.
I remember I loved to watch the series in Korea. At that time, it was not easy to watch the foreign tv series, so it was a quite precious experience to me.Also I had a little shock from it.Because they gave
me many social issues which were unfamiliar, sometimes unavailable to understand the concepts.
Anyway it was so interesting.I still remember I could not wait for watching it every week.I loved their conflict between Quincy and his assistant, Sam. After it started, later season's episodes began to introduce themes of social responsibility such as drunk driving laws, problems caused by punk rock, orphan drugs and anorexia among others. Even if the theme is pretty depressed, I got the constant main stream from the series. The good things, for example, the friendship between the crews, the sense of humour, the love, the passion of their work and their social responsibility for the justice, all these components were mixed well to make us enjoy the show. While many detective series had depicted rudimentary physical analysis such as fingerprints and bullet comparisons, Quincy M.E. was the first to regularly present the in-depth forensic investigation which would be the hallmark of later detective shows such as CSI and NCIS. Also this show was one of the earlier dramatic series to use a format like this to further a social agenda.
They say that while we watch the TV , our brain becomes slow and muddy. But if it is not very often or long hours, the TV show gives us a chance to be relaxed and to get some feelings like love, friendship, justice, responsibility through the other people's experience.
